You can only influence someone who is open to be influenced.

Sometimes we hold ourselves unduly accountable for not being able to influence someone the way we want, for we feel we know what maybe in their best interest - be it a team member, family member, boss, or a client.

I find it empowering to realize that while we should do our best to influence where needed, it's they who choose whether to get influenced or not. OR, in other words, everyone is responsible for the direction they take. Hold your self to the process and not the results.
