DussHerA 2021 Musings
As we celebrate Dussehra, the festival of good over evil, I wish that in the years to come education becomes a way to learn and up skill rather than something that we invest in driven by fear and insecurities.
We often end up wasting the prime years of our life pursuing courses that have little or no meaning, in the hope that it gives us a fair chance to get a decent job. Much of the professional and higher education industry, including many of the premier colleges, bank on our insecurities and fear to make education unaffordable and often sparsely accessible. This is as true for those pursuing education right after their school/ college as it is for mid career professionals who feel the pressure of getting left behind. Limited parts of the education that's imparted is practical or even implementable from a vocational standpoint.
The saplings of online and more actionable vocational and training courses that are burgeoning online carry of hope of turning a new leaf. I do also feel that the future is greater industry partnerships with universities that enable students, even possibly after school, to learn 50-60 percent of their time on the job while getting their degrees. It's a win win and a change waiting to happen.
To the future where quality education is widely available, and pursued for learning and not driven by fear.
