Who’s Your Wall?

When the going get's tough, we often think of specific individuals!

I absolutely believe that when we walk together we walk farther, and when we walk solo we may moments of great speed & agility but it's often short lived. Teams are what makes the organizations what they are over sustained periods of time.

Yet, it is almost paradoxical that when are in a difficult situation, it is never the team that comes to our mind. We always think of one individual or a few individuals we rely on to step up, be it in the family or the sports club or the organization. It's not always the star performer or the most talented person on the team, but often the most gritty person we want by our side. I like to call them the 'Wall'. Being the 'Wall' is not everyone's cup of tea. However, if it is something thing you can do, it immediately brings you in the inner circle (irrespective of your experience levels), and offers you greater opportunities that most others on the team.

So what differentiates or defines these individuals from others? It's four things that are a must have.

1. Trust,

2. Resourcefulness,

3. Calmness,

4. Confidence

It's worth thinking of who your 'Wall' is, and taking good care of them. Equally, it's worth contemplating whether you can/ want to be the 'Wall' for someone/ some team?
