Policies Are open to interpretation
Organizational Policies are meant to enable business and people, and not be a hindrance to them. However, sometimes we get caught in the letter of the policy and not its spirit, forgetting that the policies were maybe written for a different organisational context (that may not hold true).
As leaders, when we see policies becoming a hindrance to the organisation's growth and people enablement, we either need to revise them or interpret them differently.
While the law and policies are the same for everyone, leaders, much like lawyers, differ in their ability to interpret them and thereby use the same policy as a headwind or a tailwind. And sometimes, the best lawyers and leaders can also, get the law or policy changed if it doesn't meet the intended purpose.
