Difference between A good & Great Career

Not often do we come across opportunities that can potentially propel us. It could be a new role, or additional responsibilities, or admission in a college of our choice, or getting to work on an aspirational project/ company.

When we do come across these, we can either act on it & have a compounding effect on our careers, OR sit by the side as it fritters away. In the moment, the concerns that let the opportunity fritter away always seem genuine. Some of them sound like

- I have no time to take up this additional role/ responsibilities

- My skills do not have a 100% match with the new opportunity

- I will need to learn something new, I am not sure I am comfortable changing this around when everything is going great

- For a role like this I should be paid 10% more

It's important to have some guiding #priorities in our life, and take #decisions based on that. We seldom come across #opportunities that look like a home run at the outset. Most opportunities require us to commit to them, based on a leap of faith if some base criteria are met. The act of committing to the opportunity can in turn make it a home run as we strive to excel at it.

Difference between a good & a great career is often spotting & making these opportunities count or not!.
