Personal Accountability
Some of the best managers I have worked with have taken personal interest in my well being. They have counseled me, mentored me, given me air cover, entrusted me with new opportunities that I wasn't always read for, and even asked me to take a break when I was feeling burnt out.
Yet, even they could not take accountability of my mental and physical health. It's incumbent on each of us to take care our health before we prioritize work. Your role or organization is transient at best, but your physical & mental well being carries you throughout your life. To consistently excel at what you do, we do need great health.
A lot of us understand this very well, but find it difficult to consistently implement. I have been guilty of this on many occasions, and sometimes still fall into this trap. We get jolted into action when the body or mind start giving strong feedback in terms of a clogged mind, or back pains, or obesity, etc.
