It’s the Effort & INtent That Shines Through

Whenever we see our sports team lose we are disappointed.

9 times out of 10 we are disappointed not merely by the result, but more so when we sense lack of effort & intent. If the team has put in great effort & intent, and still lost the game, because the other team outplayed them, we aren't as severely disappointed. We are still keen to support and defend them.

To me this is a very good analogy for what we should expect of ourselves and our teams. Winning a deal or wowing a client isn't always in our hands, but showing up and putting in the effort with intent is.

The effort and the intent may not be always quantifiable, but like with a sports team that's thousands of miles away, you can often sense it.
