Small Things
The small things we do unconsciously can either make our teams insecure or confident & empowered.
In most situations, stepping back (after articulating the big picture) and letting people figure out the way is much better than trying to guide every step of the way. When competent people feel empowered and trusted, they mostly find a way...often a better way than we could have envisioned.
For some of us 'letting go' of the need to be in control comes easy, but for most of us it needs practice and mindfulness. You learn by taking small bets and seeing them work. Some of us take these small bets because someone else took these bets on us in the past, and some of us need to be nudged to take them.
